Newsletter 2 and Fun Fact of the Month: WTSC Stands For Thomas S. Clarkson
September 26th : 8:41 pm

You can find the new edition of The Broadcast here.

For those of you who missed it, we had fun-packed at this year's first All-Hands Meeting. At the convention of DJs, eboard members, and our trusty adviser pizza was served and glasses (of soda) were raised. This year we have more than doubled the amount of on-air time from last year with a whopping 35 shows throughout the week totaling more than 65 hours of show time per week. Also at the meeting, current eboard members were introduced to returning and new DJs as well as a couple graduate students who are having a hard time letting go of WTSC. Much of the evening's discussion involved getting DJs more interested in some activities done in the station other than broadcasting. These included:

+ Reviewing the 20+ brand NEW albums and singles we get in the mail every week.
+ Learning how to use the equipment in our professional-quality production and recording studio.
+ Broadcasting our weekly show live from the Empire Diner and other various live events.
+ Helping with general upkeep of the station (making cables, building cd shelves, sorting music, etc.)

If anyone reading this is interested in both scheduling your own radio show and learning how to broadcast from our studio, you can contact either the station manager (Jeff) or any other eboard member by emailing them (email addresses can be found in the “Eboard Members” list to the left).

If you are already a DJ and looking to be more involved in WTSC activities, stop by the station during our weekly meetings from 7-8pm on Tuesdays or feel free to stop by when most of us are down there on Saturdays getting work down around the station.

One last thing: Stay tuned for the second installment of our newsletter which is scheduled to be released this week. It will include the most recent activities in the station as well as updates from all of the eboard members.

Newsletter Edition
August 8th : 1:10 pm

Check out the Fall Newsletter edition of The Broadcast.

First off, WTSC is a college radio stationcompletely operated and maintained by students. We know how it works and make it sound great.

  • Broadcasting - We rely heavily on our automation server currently, but that needs to change! The only way it can change is with your help! Shows are done in two hour blocks 24 hours a day and streamed live online. This means not only the clarkson community hears what you have to say, but anyone from home can listen as well. Two walls full of CD's let you find something a little different each show. And if that isn't enough, take a step into the Vinyl Vault for an entire room filled with any record imaginable.
  • Studio B - Lest we not forget Studio B. It was once was home to a second broadcast frequency, but now is home to our mixing and scratching classic two turn table mixer microphone set up just waiting for some sweet beats. Newly revived in the 06-07 school year it's still got fresh paint and expected to be completely finished in the early fall.
  • Recording Studio - WTSC studios is home to a newly renovated, state of the art recording studio. A 24 channel main mixer, 8 - 12 band eq's, 8 gates, 2 shure vocal microphones, sound absorbing foam walls and cieling, 6 Klipsch studio monitors, two crown amps and a whole lotta music allow the creativity to flow for all your recording needs. We are professional.
  • Remote Events - This year we will be co-hosting and hosting a large number of events around the Clarkson community. These include Winterfest, Empire Diner Shows, and last, but certainly not least, our very own Battle of The Bands. The grand prize awarded to the winner includes a hefty amount of recording time in our studio. Runners up are also awarded.
  • Membership - There's no better way to join WTSC than to send an email to eboard@radio.clarkson.edu or speak with any Eboard member. If you see us around campus, say Hi !!! We will train you personally and have you running your own show or helping out in no time.
